Frequently Asked Questions

How do I get to the start area, and is there parking?

We will send you all the information in advance. There will be parking, but arrive early so you don’t have to run to the start before the race.

Where can I leave my belongings?

There will be a limited luggage area, so you can leave your things in a safe place. Please don’t leave valuables – we will keep an eye on the area, but we cannot take responsibility for them.

Are there age restrictions?

If you are 18 or older, you are welcome! If you are under 18, we would love to have you join as a volunteer (→ link).

What happens if the weather is bad?

Rain or shine, the race will go ahead! We will postpone only in truly dangerous conditions. We will let you know if a change is needed.

How much time do I have to finish each discipline?

There is an overall time limit for the race, as well as a limit for each discipline. The cut-off times are the same for both distances. The goal is to have fun, but keep an eye on the clock!

  • Swim: 1 hour 10 minutes.
  • Bike: 6 hours from the start.
  • Run: 8 hours 30 minutes from the start.

For more details, see the rules.

Do I need to wear a swim cap?

Bring a swim cap – preferably a bright colour, so you are easier to see.

Can I use any aids while swimming?

A wetsuit is fine if the water is cold. Everything else – fins, paddles and other “rescue” aids – is out of the game. There will be plenty of official “helpers” in the water in case you need them.

How will the swim start?

To avoid collisions in the first metres, the start will be organised in waves. Every 5 seconds, three athletes will begin their swim. This gives enough space to move comfortably in the water without unnecessary stress. Your time only starts counting once you cross the start antenna, so there is no need to rush. We recommend assessing your swimming ability realistically and lining up next to athletes of a similar speed, so you feel comfortable and confident in the water.

Where do I wear my race number?

They should be able to see you from everywhere! The number goes on your helmet, on your bike’s seat post and on the front of your clothes while running. That way you will be cheered on from every angle.

  • Swim: wear a swim cap – preferably a bright colour, so you are easier to see.
  • Bike: the number goes on the seat post and on both sides of the helmet.
  • Run: wear the number on the front, somewhere easy to see. We recommend a race belt – very handy, but a simple rubber band works too!
What are the helmet requirements?

It must be certified and in good condition. Wearing a helmet is absolutely mandatory during the bike leg! We make no exceptions here!

How does the transition area work?

This is your personal race corner! Arrange your things so you can grab them easily. And please don’t get in your neighbours’ way – we all want to get out of there quickly.

What kind of bikes can I use?

Road and triathlon bikes are welcome. Mountain bikes are also allowed – they take more effort, but you will impress everyone with your fight on the asphalt!

Are there aid stations on the course?

Of course! At strategic points you will find everything you need – water, isotonic drink, cola and fruit. We are here to support you, after all.

Music during the race?

No headphones – that way you can hear the cheers of other athletes and the shouts of cyclists as you overtake each other.

What should I do if I want to withdraw and get a refund?

See our refund policy in the rules. We will be happy to refund part or all of the amount, depending on how long before the race you write to us. You can submit a Withdrawal request.
